Welcome to Back2School, our impactful school sponsorship initiative that connects compassionate donors from around the globe with children in need. THE SITUATION IN CHORKOR
In disadvantaged communities like Chorkor, many children grapple with a severe lack of opportunities, often finding themselves involved in strenuous activities at local markets or engaged in fishing by the seaside. In some cases, children are left idle in their homes. Although public education in Ghana is free and mandatory, additional costs can overwhelm families, leading to a significant dropout rate among students.
OUR IMPACT
Since the year 2000, BASICS has been actively rescuing children from the streets and placing them into classrooms. Through our BACK2SCHOOL program, we’ve granted over 3000 sponsorships in Ghana. Our ultimate aim is to afford each child the opportunity to pursue education up to the university level.

Sponsor a Child’s Education Journey with BASICS International
In Ghana, many children face obstacles that prevent them from attending school. Expenses like uniforms, books, and required school fees, including PTA and exam fees, often act as barriers. Recognizing this financial gap, BASICS International has launched the Back to School sponsorship program to bridge these critical financial barriers and ensure that every child can access quality education.
Our mission is to provide vulnerable children with opportunities to thrive through education. By sponsoring a child through our Back2School program, you can make a profound impact on their lives. Your support covers essential aspects such as tuition, uniforms, meals, transportation, and health-related expenses.
Sponsorship Opportunities:
Primary Community Based Day School
- Cost: $800 per child per academic year
- Includes school fees, uniforms, school lunch, after-school care, dinner, and healthcare
Primary (Elementary- Junior High) Boarding School
- Cost: $1,450 per child per year
- Includes school fees, uniforms, school lunch, after-school care, dinner, and private health insurance
High School Boarding School
- Cost: $2,300 per child per year
- Covers school fees, boarding and meals, transportation, uniforms, and private health insurance
Government Free High School
- Cost: $500 per child per year
- Includes supplies, uniforms, transportation, and allowance
University Education
- Cost: $2,000 per child per year
- Covers school fees, hostel fees, and a monthly allowance for meals
You can make a difference by donating in full or via recurring payments for 6 or 9 months. The specified amount is subject to periodic adjustments reflecting changes in the exchange rate (USD vs Ghana Cedi – GHC).

CONNECT WITH YOUR BENEFICARY
Once you have made your first sponsorship donation, you will be introduced to your sponsored child through photographs, biography, and a letter from the child you support. Each school term you will receive a progress sheet or report card. Sponsors are invited to write to their child at anytime!
