Camp Aklowah
Camp Aklowah is BASICS International’s experiential learning and residential camp, located on nine beautiful acres in Shai-Osudoku, Ghana. It serves as a home away from home during weekends, school holidays, and long breaks. A place where children and youth can feel safe, build confidence, and explore their full potential.
Why Camp Aklowah?
In many communities, long school breaks leave children without safe spaces or enriching opportunities. Camp Aklowah bridges that gap by creating a structured, nurturing environment filled with fun, learning, mentorship, and recreation.

- To provide a safe and welcoming space for children when school is out.
- To foster leadership, resilience, and teamwork through outdoor challenges and group activities.
- To balance education with play ensuring children thrive academically, socially, and physically.
- To promote healthy living and sustainability through sports, gardening, and environmental projects
What Makes Aklowah Special
Camp Aklowah is not an orphanage or school, it's a community camp designed to give children and teens a chance to learn, play, and recharge.
At Camp Aklowah, young people enjoy:- Sports & Recreation – Football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, skating, swimming, and hiking in the scenic Shai Hills. .
- Team Building & Leadership. Activities that encourage confidence, problem-solving, and collaboration
- STEAM & Creativity. Hands-on workshops in technology, art, and innovation — supported by AWS, Cisco, Hubtel, and Vasion .
- Cultural Exchange . Opportunities to celebrate Ghanaian heritage and connect with youth from around the world.
- Service & Sustainability Tree planting, beach clean-ups, and environmental stewardship projects.
